Looking for awesome free games you can download and play with friends? Here are some of my favorites! These reflect a selection that may appeal to different audiences, all offering very different types of gameplay. All of these games are completely free to play (some require the download and installation of a free game client). You can earn in game currency the more you play, which you use to unlock additional content.
League of Legends
is an RTS DOTA (Real
Time Strategy, Defense of the Ancients) style game where teams of 5 v 5
compete. Each player controls a
champion, which starts at level 1 and acquires gold and experience throughout
the game to reach level 18 and build items to make them into a powerful mage,
deadly assassin, or immovable tank. Each
champion has their own set of skills and flavor – you can play as a knight, a
ninja, a pirate, a werewolf, a robot, and your abilities reflect this choice.
Neopets
is a browser-based
sandbox game. You can simply do
whatever you want. You can collect
plushies and stamps, attempt to get onto the high scores tables of hundreds of
mini-games, complete plot quests, build and decorate a home, or equip and train
your pet for battle with friends.
Tribes: Ascend
is a FPS (first
person shooter) designed to encourage fast gameplay. There are nine different loadouts you can
choose from, each with their own set of weapons and armor you can upgrade. The gameplay encourages mobility, where
standing still will get you killed swiftly, so it’s important to keep moving at
a top speed of >200kph to position yourself and survive.
